GETTING STARTED

Dear Friends on the Path, Saraswati Puja Day or Vasant (early spring) Panchami (5th day) is a subtle day to open, renew and embody your connection to "She who flows". On this day, if you are outside of India, as it may seem like any other Friday which is always considered special for Devi - the Shining One - Living Goddess. Saraswati Puja falls on the 5th day of the month between Jan-Feb and it is auspicious for Saraswati Puja to be on a Friday. So please enjoy the practices that we have for you. Whether you enjoy a morning or afternoon or evening practice, open to the subtle current of the divine mother in the form of Ma Saraswati. My first Saraswati Puja Day was in Delhi in 1989 when I was studying Odissi dance and my teacher asked me to wear yellow for the puja and bring my ankle bells and place them on the collective altar. The puja was to be open as dancers, to renew the study of the art and to honor Saraswati for the beginning of cultivating knowledge, flow, and artistic beauty. As I have never missed a Saraswati Day since, what I experience in meditation is more the Tantric Devi, the one who is the flow of the inner rivers, and who rests upon our tongue as sacred speech, mantra, and wisdom. So please enjoy the puja - offering practice and meditation, the short creative flow practice dedicated to inner beauty within all, as well as the Saraswati Yoga Nidra to relax and take in her many names and aspects. There is only ONE - and yet there are different emanations of the one. Please share your altar if you like and be open to the profound renewal for yourself as an artist of life, your craft, of yoga or the many forms of expression particularly with our speech for bringing healing into the world through our heart. Love All Ways Shiva in Aotearoa (New Zealand) OM NAMO GURAVE, SHRI SARASWATI RUPAYA "ONNNG NUM-OH GURAV-AY, SHREE SUH-RUH-SWUT-EEE ROOPAAY-UH" OM! I BOW TO SHE WHO PERSONIFIES THE MANIFESTATION OF MY FLOW - TO THAT GURU I BOW! - translated by Christopher Tompkins
